Our Story

SilverRide was founded in 2006 by two San Francisco residents who have a passion for helping older adults.

As local business professionals, Jeff Maltz and Susan Steiner Saal, colleagues from UC Berkeley's Haas Graduate School of Business, decided to team up to address the needs of aging Bay Area adults. Jeff and Susan had always been active volunteers in the older adult community and with a combined total of 20+ years experience working with Fortune 500 companies, they decided to put their formal education, business expertise and passion toward solving important problems for older adults in the Bay Area. After much research and collaboration with local professionals and many seniors, they received a consistent message that one of the biggest problems facing older adults was a lack of safe, reliable, timely and dignified transportation once they reached their "driving retirement".

So, Jeff and Susan set out to learn as much as possible about how to address the transportation problem, and after nearly a year of research, volunteer driving and business model refinement, SilverRide, LLC was born. Founded on the premise that older adults should enjoy a connected, fulfilling, dignified and independent lifestyle after their "driving retirement", the SilverRide team has built a mission-driven business to solve real problems for older adults, their caregivers and families.

SilverRide, LLC is a privately held company formed in California.
